Identify the buildup
Hard water spots are white, cloudy mineral deposits left behind when water dries on glass. Left alone, they etch into the surface and become much harder to remove.
Start with a gentle cleaner
Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a spray bottle. Saturate the glass and let it sit for several minutes so the acid can break down the mineral deposits.
Scrub with a non-abrasive pad
Use a soft, non-scratch pad or microfiber cloth in small circles. Avoid steel wool or harsh abrasives, which can scratch the glass permanently.
Rinse and dry with a squeegee
Rinse thoroughly with clean water, then squeegee top to bottom and wipe the edges dry. Drying prevents new spots from forming.
